Avoid Friday Night at the Fights...
Nothing is worse than fighting with your trades, vendors and suppliers at the same time they are trying to get paid. They think their work is finished and you don’t think things are done right.
All you know is that you want the job done to your satisfaction and the trade just wants his money.
Without The Builder’s Checklist, you will surely have some fights - and you will likely lose.
How do you avoid the fights?
Add The Builder’s Checklist to your contracts as contract addendum pages when you hire your trades.
The only time a trade, vendor or material supplier is receptive to your construction requirements is when he is trying to get your business. So, the only time you can negotiate with a trade, vendor or material supplier is before you hire them - you must negotiate your expectation of quality up front!
Because The Builder’s Checklist is an objective quality checklist and since you are making it a part of the construction trade, vendor or material supplier’s contract, there are no reasons for any argument on payday. The trade gets paid when he completes all aspects of his contract - including the requirements in The Builder’s Checklist.
The Builder’s Checklist is fair and objective. It represents reasonable expectations of quality. Your trades will actually appreciate knowing your specific expectations before they start - and knowing what you require so they can get paid. In fact, you will probably want to add your own specific requirements to some of the Builder’s Checklists pages to fit your construction needs and make it even better!
